Iron ( Fe ) Ferrozine - BT-Products
Ferrozine can form a complex with a red color by forming chelates with Fe2 +. This reaction is restricted in the presence of other chelating agents and results in a decrease of the red color of the ferrozine-Fe2 + complexes.
Samples
Serum or heparinized plasma. Centrifuge specimen as soon as possible after collection.
Hemolyzed samples are rejected. Ruptured red cells falsely elevate the serum results.
Iron in serum is stable for 3 weeks at 2-8ºC and for about 7 days at20-25ºC. Freeze for longer storage
