This special suture set consists of a white polyester tape equipped at each end with blunt round bodied needles.
History
The Shirodkar technique was first described in India in 1955. The Shirodkar stitch is a purse-string stitch put into the cervix to keep it tightly closed during pregnancy.
Process
A ligature is placed around the cervix in a collar-like fashion, drawn tight, and either sutured together or tied closed. A strong tape is then woven carefully with a swage blunt needle in and out of the mucosa.
